Dig a narrow trench, set pieces at desired height, backfill with soil or sand.
Short pieces follow gentle curves. For tight curves use shorter pieces.
Stone or brick edging is the most durable and lasts decades. Victoriana-style metal edging is also very long-lasting. Plastic log roll is cheapest but degrades in UV light.
