Potato Chitting Calculator — Seed Potatoes & Timing

Calculate seed potato quantities, spacing, and chitting times.

How We Calculate This

Tubers per row = (Row length ÷ in-row spacing) + 1, counting a tuber at each end of the row. Total tubers = Tubers per row × Number of rows.

Seed potato weight assumes an average of 60g per tuber (about 16-17 tubers per kg at that size). Yield estimates are based on typical UK conditions and are guides, not guarantees.

Per RHS: first and second earlies 30cm apart in rows 60cm apart; maincrops 37cm apart in rows 75cm apart.
